Pouf (transformed into Kumogi) a while back asked Welfin to lie to Pitou about Komugi's safety remember? It was to convince Pitou that she should kill Gon, which backfired like crazy lol. The events are all a crazy coincidental chain that ended in a very poetic way.

People keep saying Meruem is becoming human/good etc... but I think that's only half of the point. As the narrator said in the past 2 episodes, humans have a cruel side to them that goes beyond the rest of nature too. Meruem didn't "become human". He took the best parts of it and values this new development introspectively. He's better than a regular human and more like an enlightened saint hours before his death lol.

I would argue by this time Meruem gave up on the whole conquest thing. Not that Netero was evil, but the narrative is going against his choice a little. Togashi (author) is definitely stressing that when given a chance, Meruem could've been the most benevolent being you'd see. In fact, he'd be better than most of modern world's leaders lol.

Meruem never did anything bad though all he did was eat humans same as we do to other animals.
