Although some people, myself included, liked the Ikalgo stuff a lot for the amount of depth into it, I do see how you guys see it. A lot of the stuff, like the Ikalgo is a lot of set-up that may seem meaningless at the moment, but you'll see pay off at the end and you will probably see different by the end. So please be patient, besides the upcoming fights (which you accurately point out, are going to be hype), there is a lot of pay off to all the things you have seen so far. If it also changes your opinion somewhat, at least in comparison to dressrosa, everything is canon and no filler, but I definitely understand hxh can be very dense for newer viewers, but the payoffs are amazing!

Ya they took up so much time with the ikalgo stuff. It felt like it took up a fourth of the infiltration which is annoying, but like you were saying anime with shorter episodes excel in that.

Very interesting perspective, majority of people, like the spots you don't like. For example all the Ikalgo stuff people usually like to a point were they say they were expecting on not liking it, but it surprised them how deap they went with a side character. On the other hand Dressrosa, their were several parts you guys liked that people thought was dragging, mainly any thing with Leo and the Tontattas.

Bruh. there was a whole episode dedicated to everyone's reaction to Zoro cutting Pica. One piece has a fuckload more dead episodes. If Lycan actually rated anime arcs in its entirety you'd hate One Piece lmfao

You really can't judge the arc before the end. The final fights make it S tier. Have faith guys 👍

I'd use the word dense instead of complex. It's easy to see what Togashi was going for when it's all said and done but it's a lot to take in if you're not ready.

I liked the Ikalgo stuff. I feel HxH is an A show that became S tier on a re-watch because it's one of those series like Breaking Bad where you notice so many things you didn't pick up on the first watch or you see early stuff in a very different light. Hated DR because all page space dedicated to the dwarves, the royal family commenting on the fights, and all the focus on random civilians running was awful. Oda would literally cut away from a fight to draw multiple panels of people running from danger. Like the 2014 Godzilla constantly cutting from Godzilla to show randoms. The anime had to extend tons of fights because the manga literally had King Riku, Violet, and at one point some Dwarves, or some other observer telling us what occurred in the fights then just showing us the end of it. Luffy getting 2 speeches form Riku then Gatz telling us how he is going to save the day instead of showing us the Doffy fight was ridiculous. Visual medium and Oda had characters literally tell us what was happened instead of just drawing it. The CA arc's only changes are meeting Kite and they did rearrange the Ikalgo stuff so the chairman's fight happens 2nd to last.

Sure it was awful in the anime too but after Doffy gets beat there is an entire chapter of textless panels of people cheering at his defeat and the chaos being over.
