I think the Anime episode are just cut weird. If I remember the Manga Chapter ended on a cliffhanger with Fujitora and Sabo facing each other.

last episode issho was heading towards luffy and this episode he was cut off by sabo. but we got it from doffys family's perspective noticing that the navy was being held up thats why the coliseum people were able to get by so fast

reactors skip the first like 5mins of the episode to where the title is. Sometimes, scenes happen during that timestamp you were skipping

Also remember the anime would always take liberties of what oda would skip in the manga. It was around this time we got filler conon but the unofficial one.

So around this time forward guys the anime will be cutting around cause oda does a lot of no show actions but at times the anime will show extra stuff.

This is what I was gonna say. Instead of showing it from the Navy's perspective like you'd expect, they showed it from Doflamingo's people's perspective with them noticing the Navy wasn't there stopping any of the pirates, and then it cuts to showing why the Navy was held up.

I think the linking scene where we’d see sabo and fujitora first interact for this whole fight was in the first few minutes of the ep that you skipped, sometimes the anime puts important scenes before the title screen, it even did it in one of the newer episodes that came out this year which had a really watch worthy scene in it

Just realized Sabo broke that dude's Shark Cleaver in the same way Luffy broke Arlong's Shark Sword or whatever it was called. Idk if intentional but kinda cool
