Absolutely, the fact that Issho has a goal set in place and was the only marine that wanted to abolish the warlord system (probably Sakazuki as well) tells me that he might be the next fleet admiral in the future imo but I could be wrong

To be fair though, Amenz if Garp had done something to save Ace you wouldn't have this animosity to him. Also, I do think Lycan statement about if you truly understood you would agree makes no sense.

I personally don't know how ppl still like usopp after he left, even though he came back. So i feel u on that 1. The fisher tiger situation is kinda weird, like i wouldnt let him die but I dont think he will hate me if I saved him, I feel like he would hate himself and he wouldnt want to live cuz he was "saved" by humans and he doesnt wanna feel like he owes them big time, uknow? Or atleast thats how I interpreted it

I can see your gonna feel how you feel about Usopp but hes not gonna change until the Straw Hats reach Elbafh the land of Giants. Oda writing of him can frustrate a lot of people because he's trying to keep Usopp character entrusting until then. It's 1000 episode/ chapters it's gonna be a very slow build.

Exactly, his emotions prove he's not heartless. The consequences of the hero turning on the marines would have been beyond bad. Saving Ace would have been selfish in the end, no matter if it's a good act.

This is a very good anime for both of you, because while it is technical (lycan) It is also straight forward and emotional(Amenz). So whenever you argue, one of you are right and the other one is really wrong. If Usopp was a "Brave warrior of the Sea" by this point, his story is "DONE" He would be on the bench with Chopper, Sanji, Nami, Brook, Franky and for the most part Zoro. Everyone on that bench has goals that won't be brought up again til the story is over with and done. Sure they can keep growing by learning new skills but their objectives aren't anything that can relate to the story as it is progressing. Usopp being a dependable coward is what you are gunna have til at least Elbaf or even the final moments.

Usopp is a character I never liked from the very beginning. his personality is not my up of tea. He’s a coward who was willing to run away. You can’t comeback from that. No one else on the crew would’ve even had that thought.

Now all you guys and also Amenz and Lycan, If you think youre gonna stay and fight in the situations that the strawhat pirates find them selves ind you are capping hard. PPL keep pulling the time with zoro and the fishmen out of their a** but every single person here would have done the same. We are not talking normal stuff here, but a world of powers where people being literally 10 times stronger then you is not just a tall tale but actually truth. And if we take the situation that just happened with trebol and the ship he just threw in to the tower.. Stop capping. I might be wrong, there might be a person here that could run straight in to a wall of danger and pain and not think twice, but damn those ppl are rare, and unless you have already done something like that, then you atm do not know if you are that person. And there is the story point, Usopp's dream is to be brave, if he was that now then he would have no development the rest of the story.

Also Usopp knew that if he fought that fight he would be beaten and killed. It takes a lot of guts to die for someone you met a couple of hours ago, and that's what Usopp was willing to do. Luffy trusted he could get it done because he knew Ussop is a good man who would put his life on the line, even for people who aren't his friends

It dont matter because they binge watch it. Now if they were watching this 1 episode per week like we did back then. Then we would have a real problem. But for binge watchers like them yes it will feel slow at times but its not as bad as people like you make it to be. They already got past the punk hazard arc. And they gave that a 9 LMAO.

Most Garp haters are just salty Ace fans lol. But realistically the marines that suggested to take Duffy straight up are thinking like Luffy, take the head the rest falls. Also the World Government is different from the Marines. For the most part Marines aren't evil, except for the corrupt ones we saw from the east blue. Smoker, Tashigi, Koby, Helmempo are like Lycans say are being shown, so we are following their story. There is a reason why Garp stayed as a Vice Admiral, and like everything in One Piece we don't know anything lol so chill trust me we are all in the same boat, like Lycan been saying we haven't seen much about Garp. It isn't his story.

Because fear is a natural human emotion. Don't act like you wouldn't do the same in that situation. He is by himself all his allies captured, your going to go and face the enemies even though you may die. The fear of death is a powerful emotion, and people say they would act like Zoro or Luffy, but in reality the fear of death would kick in and would make your run. Only people with a rare brain disorder can resist fear.

In Sabody the whole crew ran from Kizaru, Sentomaru, and the Pacifista, because they couldn't take them out. In that situation, they aren't shit characters because of the overwhelming amount of opponents. Then Usopp was in the similar situation, except he was all by himself, couldn't really do anything because of the Strength of the individuals he was facing. However People Shit on his character and are pissed at him for not doing more. Its a weird double Standard, for characters that always run and those that don't. All I am saying is people that are calling Usopp out for running, should also call out other characters for Running. In fact were having the same thing now, Sabo and all the People with them are Running from random goons, when they can simply turn around and destroy them. I don't see you guys or other fans calling Sabo out for running right now. Double Standards for different characters.

I can see what Amenz is thinking. He actually hears Issho saying his goals to get rid of the warlord system which makes him a very likable character but like Lycan said we don’t really know garps feelings about the world government. That comes later on.. Also Garp is a marine and he’s a busy man so unfortunately he couldn’t be there for Ace more. But when he was with Ace, he tried to whip him into shape but Ace just wanted to be a pirate. Garp showed how he felt at the execution, he cared about Ace but he was a hot head at the end of the day.

dude this is a bad example, straight up. in sabaody Usopp saw kizaru about to kill zoro and the straw hats but he didn't run away, he stood his ground and even aimed his slingshot at kizaru at that moment knowing he was going to die but that it was worth it to protect zoro. then rayleigh came in at the last second and saved zoro and usopp. what usopp did with the tontattas was different, it's like if usopp saw kizaru and the pacificistas dominating the straw hats and instead of fighting back he immediately ditched the crew and ran, that would be like what he did here with the tontattas. also you managed to give another horrible example, talking about sabo and them running away from those pirates. sabo was running away WITH the tontattas and nico robin and all them, not running away from them leaving them behind in danger so that he could save himself [what usopp did] aymenz and lycan are right, what usopp did was pathetic and if you think otherwise you are just plain wrong. I love usopp as a charcter but yeah, at least he was brave enough to fight in the end but I wish he fought sooner, but whatever. plz chill with your terrible examples though in the future por favor. also if sabo did pull an usopp, koala and nico robin would be close to getting murdered by those pirates, and sabo would have been like 'good luck guys, you are on your own, I am running out of here'' but yeah he didn't do anything like that

But how does that make Amenz wrong? Amenz is going based off of the information they know, it's silly to make arguments about hypothetical things based off information that they have no evidence for. Why should Amenz think that Garp is actually fighting to make the Navy better or overthrow the World Government when they have zero evidence of that? I don't agree with his overall dislike of Garp, but as far as Garp not showing his opposition to what the Navy does he's right. The only times we've seen him go against the Navy are when it pertained to Ace and Luffy when they were kids, the one time he met with Luffy in Water 7, and when Sengoku had to pin him to the ground after Akainu killed Ace because Garp was deep in his emotions and wanted to kill Akainu. Basically things that are very personal to him, but not going against things that effect the world as a whole, unlike Issho who immediately has seen how ridiculous it is to embolden certain pirates with the Warlords system and the price that the innocents of the world have to pay for the World Governments deal. The whole "How do we know Garp isn't fighting and we don't know about it?" doesn't sit right with me. Like how do we know Garp isn't actually a marine with a dark past? How do we know that he isn't actually Dragon's adoptive father instead? We don't know any of these things because the show hasn't told us. Maybe Garp is secretly an evil clown. They haven't show us that though so we assume, reasonably, that Garp isn't any of those things, just like we assume, reasonably, that he isn't secretly fighting the World Government, because we haven't seen any evidence of that.

Here's my perspective on Garp. Imagine if you were in his shoes, you have two choices; keep the World Government or overthrow them. There is no middle ground, or "changing" them; the World Government is literally a dictatorship run by the Celestial Dragons, who have ABSOLUTE power over everybody. However, that dictatorship is also what's (mostly) keeping the peace around the world; without the World Government, you'd have pure chaos, and many innocent people would suffer because of the lack of Marine policing (sort of like how when Whitebeard died, many of the islands under his protection suffered from pirate attacks). So no World Government=chaos. So if you're Garp, who do you side with; a tyrannical government that keeps the peace, or would you prefer pure civil war and anarchy? It's not an easy decision, and it's much easier to just be himself and try to be a good marine. Garp is a strong fighter; but he doesn't have the charisma or the resolve to change the world, and that's where someone like Dragon comes into play.
