At the beginning of the episode Crusch actually had pressing manners to handle herself. In S1 Subaru teamed up with both Crusch and Anastasia faction. If Crusch wasn't careful with her next actions Anastasia could've stolen all of the credit for defeating the White Whale instead of it being treated as joint operation by her Subaru and Crusch Before Emilia and Subaru was about to depart from Crusch manor Wilhelm came out to give his regards and the topic of his incurable wound came up. He carries a wound that cannot be healed since it was inflicted by a blade that carries the Blessing of the Grim Reaper. A wound given to him by the previous Sword Saint his former wife. Some other content that was cut was Subaru and Emilia talking more in depth about Rem. Subaru was actually at a lost for words when asked by Emilia what she meant to him. He shared fond memories he experienced with Rem over the past two months. Subaru is confirmed to have been in this world for 2 months. Frederica offered to take care of Rem but Subaru refused and said that he would would be the one to do it rather selfishly. Frederica commented that behind his murderous gaze there was a kind hearted soul. Frederica actually took offense when Subaru blurted out about her sharp teeth which is why she mentioned his murderous eyes so that they'll be even. Context about Rem's sleeping beauty ailment is also cut. She doesn't hunger and she doesn't age. Some more context on Frederica: She worked for Roswald for 10+ years. Her job was to handle all of Roswald's affairs before the royal selection. Once she dismissed all of his staff she left herself leaving the mansion in Rem and Ram care. When Subaru, Emilia, and Otto was in the guest room being given info about the passage to Sanctuary. Emilia knowing that Sanctuary was a place she had to go turned to Subaru to ask a request of him. Subaru recalling what happened last time started spewing out all of the reasons why he should be allowed to go. He thought Emilia would turn him away and make him stay behind like last time. Emilia shocks Subaru by asking him to go with her. She wanted to be able to rely on Subaru and his strength because without him she said that she would be to worried to go to Sanctuary on her own. Subaru actually spent days looking for Beatrice after he was forced out of her library. The anime look like he was only searching for a mere moment. When Garfield was mentioned Subaru struggled internally. He wished that Frederica could've elaborated more but unfortunately she had made a vow not to. To Subaru vows and promises were nothing more than eloquent word play but to almost everyelse in this fantasy world vows are considered a holy pledge that should never be violated. In the carriage ride to Sanctuary we see Emilia explain that any kind of pact, covenant, or oath should be upheld with the upmost respect. To her promises of any kind were very important. They were practically the equivalent of tieing two people together with a bond of mutual trust. Even if no one was around to hold you accountable to your promises she felt that it was still right to uphold them since the other party believed you would do so. When Subaru heard Emilia speak these words with such conviction he felt the need to apologize for when he broke his own promises with her he gets down on his knees and prostates himself to Emilia. She wasn't angry and told him to be more mindful going forward. Credit to AniNews for my source of information. I left out way more information but it gets covered later on in the series. I watched S2 and only commented on content that did not make it into the anime but I feel is needed to know to better understand the Re: Zero story.
