STRONG SUPPORTING ROLES: [ STEPHANIE ]
(Early 40s, female, open ethnicity) – Stephanie is a bubbly “blonde” actress she is NICK’s girlfriend (kind of) who lives in the same apartment building, Stephanie wants NICK to come to her auditions with her for emotional support.  When me meet her, she is on the brink of possibly getting cast as a psoriasis commercial spokesperson. Good comedic timing is key for this character.

[ CHALK / DOCTOR MENDOZA ]
(Male, LatinX, 40s) – telenovela handsome, Chalk is a fentanyl dealer who runs a shady free clinic that provides scripts for addicts – almost psychic with his takes on who is a NARC – never gets tripped up by the cops, and AISHA is trying to take him down.  Got the nickname “CHALK” from his days in the coroner’s department. He’s also a huge cinephile who grew up taking refuge from an abusive father in the local movie theater. He’s a big fan of Nick’s.

[ STEEN ]
(Male, 30s, open ethnicity) – a brash and proud Texan, he sells drugs on the set of Alec Baldwin’s TV show – NICK directs him toward NELSON, the cop working undercover as a crew member who is actually working a sting operation. Good comedic timing is key for this character.

[ LOKI & RAFAEL ]
(Male, LatinX, open age) - men with gang & prison tattoos. They are intensely fierce drug enforcers willing to defend Chalk’s fentanyl stash house to the death.

[ PILAR ]
(Female, LatinX, early 20s) –Pilar is Loki’s woman and just as hardcore as her boyfriend. She is sultry and alluring and dangerous. She’ll kill you sooner than look at you twice if she suspects you’re a cop.

[ NELSON ]
(Late 20s, red-headed and bearded) Class cut-up in Nick’s NARC acting class.

[ RAUL ]
(Male, LatinX, 30s) sells drugs to Nick, all-the-while giddy that the guy buying drugs from him starred in NEEDLE CITY… his Mom loves that movie.  Turns out, boom, Nick gets busted - RAUL is an undercover cop.

[ CLINT ]
(20s, male, open ethnicity) - Steen’s younger, shorter, less attractive brother; he bails Steen out of jail, winds up in all the trouble with his brother.

[ LARRY SHAMBURG ]
(50s, male, any ethnicity) Nick’s dour lawyer at drug bust arraignment, exasperated with his repeated arrests, LARRY tries to get him to behave in his own best interest in the court proceedings.

Storyline: Nick DeFranco is a fading superstar actor whose nagging drug problem keeps him from reaching his full potential. Nick is arrested for a 5th drug offense and the only option to avoid prison is if he agrees to teach the undercover narcotics unit how to really sink into character when they pretend to be drug addicts. But Nick gets too involved, and several intense crimes have him in grave danger.
