Advanced Soft Skin System (Patreon)

Heya,

I've been developing a feature that I haven't seen in any other lewdy game - a soft skin system.

Before I chose to name the project Naughty Sandbox and maintain a somewhat loose development direction, the project was going to be a massage simulator. I dev'd this system to try and solve the problem of small skin depressions by the player's fingers / massage wands in the girl's skin.

It turns out this system works really nicely with the skeletal jiggle and physics system! I feel like it looks quite natural and really makes her skin feel soft and squishy - more than just skeletal jiggle / dynamic bones can offer on their own.

As well as getting deformations from the bones, we get a more precise and localized deformation from the massage wand which makes the skin feel like an object is really squishing into it.

I thought I'd bring up the difference between this system and VAM's physics system, since I was asked about it. (Just by the way, I'm not trying to make a VAM clone!)

Their physics system apparently uses many physical collision spheres to simulate accurate collisions, and polygonal tessellation to make the flesh appear smoothly deformed.  As far as I understand it, spheres have to be placed all over the body with very high density to be able to give correct deformations, which is a slow process to calculate in realtime.

Naughty Sandbox currently uses just one physical collision for the ass cheeks, which does most of the physical heavy lifting. The rest of the squishiness is resolved by a shader based system, which manipulates the polygons to squish them in.

Here's a tushy gif showing the soft skin system, which should be faster than a bone collision system of such complexity, and will allow for smaller and more precise squishes, even down to things as small as fingertips.

I'm really excited for this system, I think it's quite unique and makes her skin feel very soft! It should make physical interaction feel much more intimate, especially for VR players.
