We’re excited to announce the next major update for the Immerse with Migaku Browser Extension (ver 0.5.2) !

This update brings full support for 7 new languages, better Japanese parsing, furigana and readings only shown over unknown words, the brand new Migaku Clipboard, much improved Anki importing and card creation, and much much more! You can find the full change log at the bottom of this post.

1. Support for parsing 7 new languages has been added:
   1. The new languages are:
      1. Cantonese
      2. English
      3. French
      4. German
      5. Mandarin (Traditional and Simplified)
      6. Portuguese
      7. Spanish

2. Japanese parsing has been substantially improved.
3. New font border system that should look a lot better. (Special thanks to Nocompo!)
4. User can now copy parsed text without selecting furigana and the text will not contain line breaks as well.
5. Display mode has been added that only shows furigana for unknown words for Japanese.
6. Display mode has been added that only shows pinyin/zhuyin for unknown words for Mandarin.
7. Display mode has been added that only shows jyutping for unknown words for Cantonese.
8. You can now use another browser window to browse the internet while exporting cards and images will still be correctly captured (as long as the tab being recorded is in focus in its browser window)
   1. Also fixed an issue that moving the tab being recorded to a new browser window would break image recording.
9. A button has been added to the Japanese toolbar that allows you to remove brackets and their contained text when parsing.
   1. This allows you to remove readings that are included with many Netflix subtitles.
10. Furigana/Ruby text already included on a page is no longer parsed.
11. Fixed a major issue that would produce cards with mismatched text and audio when recording cards. (Particularly when bulk recording).
12. When a card is being recorded on a supported streaming site or on Migaku Player , clicking the page, or pressing hotkeys is disabled for the duration of the recording in order to prevent possible errors.
13. Anki importing now takes place directly through a connection to the Migaku Dictionary add-on.
    1. There is no need to import your Anki collection from a file anymore and that functionality has been removed.
14. You last Anki importing options are now saved on a per language basis.
15. The Migaku Clipboard has been added.
    1. Any copied text will be automatically loaded into the clipboard.
    2. There is an auto-parsing option that allows any newly copied text to automatically be parsed when it is added to the clipboard.
    3. A clear clipboard button also clears the clipboard when pressed.
    4. A new option for the font used on the clipboard has been added to the settings menu.
16. Secondary subtitle track subtitles that are on screen at the same time as the primary subtitle track’s subtitles are also sent to the card exporter when adding Anki cards through Migaku Dictionary.
17. Export 1T and Export All functionality has been added to the Migaku clipboard, websites, webpages, and documents that are parsed with the extension.
18. On any website or document you can Shift-Hover parsed sentences, this will highlight the sentence and bring up a popup with a Search and an Anki button.
    1. Using these buttons you can either search the unknowns in the parsed sentence or add a card for that sentence.
19. Similarly to the previous feature, pressing the Shift key when you have any text highlighted will bring up a Search and an Anki button. Allowing you to either search the highlighted content or create an Anki card
20. Furigana/Ruby text is no longer able to be highlighted and newlines are removed from any copied parsed content.
21. Shortcuts for changing word learning status have been added:
    1. When hovering a word in parsed content:
       1. Press U to mark that word as Unknown.
       2. Press L to mark that word as Learning.
       3. Press K to mark that word as Known.
22. Shortcuts for searching and adding cards have been added:
    1. Pressing the E key will conduct searches:
       1. Across all supported streaming sites, Migaku Player, the Migaku Clipboard, and websites/documents:
          1. You can hover over any word in parsed text and press the E key to search it in the Migaku Dictionary.
          2. Pressing the E key while any text is highlighted will search that text within Migaku Dictionary.
       2. On the Migaku Clipboard or on a website/document:
          1. You can press Shift+E while hovering any sentence of parsed text to search the unknown words in that sentence (the setting of how many unknown words to search is set through the Migaku Dictionary Add-on)
    2. Pressing the Q key will add cards to Anki:
       1. Across all supported streaming sites, Migaku Player, the Migaku
          1. Pressing the Q key while any text is highlighted will add that card to Anki through Migaku Dictionary
          2. You can press Shift+Q while hovering any sentence of parsed text to add that card to Anki ( unknown words will automatically be search, the setting of how many unknown words to search is set through the Migaku Dictionary Add-on)
       2. On supported streaming sites and Migaku player
          1. Pressing the Q key will either:
             1. Add the currently on screen subtitle as a card.
             2. If multiple subtitles have been selected in the subtitle browser. Then those selected subtitle lines will be added as a single Anki card when Q is pressed.
23. Pressing the Search buttons next to a subtitle line (on a supported streaming site or on Migaku Player) or clipboard line (on the Migaku Clipboard) of unparsed content, will parse that content if a language that supports parsing is selected for unknown words and search them in Migaku dictionary.
24. Pressing the Anki buttons next to a subtitle line (on a supported streaming site or on Migaku Player) or clipboard line (on the Migaku Clipboard) of unparsed content, will parse that content if a language that supports parsing is selected for unknown words and and send them to Anki along with the card that will be created.
25. The user is now notified if there is an issue connecting with Anki and instructed how to correctly connect the extension with the Migaku Dictionary Add-on.
26. The subtitle browser now uses the same font as that selected for the main subtitle track.
27. Parse button is disabled on streaming websites until the language is changed or the page is reloaded, preventing parsing text that has already been parsed.
28. Migaku Player’s fullscreen button should now be appropriately located and should be hidden with the other video player controls.
29. A fix to Kanji display mode that now correctly displays pitch graphs and color in the popup.
30. Added a protocol version that will check for Browser Extension/Migaku Dictionary version mismatch and inform the user.
