As just a personal thing I feel that you dont have to make it darker as it gets closer. Or if you do only make it very slightly when it's really close, otherwise it gets kind of hard to see before it's even inside the mouth. Very excited to see more tho! Hoping for something where we get to see deeper inside soon

I like the idea of combining both animations. They fit together pretty well. I agree with Drakore though of making it darker only when really close.
