September Recap (Long Text Post) (Patreon)

Hello friends! Scheduled Post-er Velo here.

I apologize for the lack of "finished" content during this month. September was mostly a lot of behind-the-scenes stuff in preparation for next month's.. Just like a few months ago, before the first few Lifeguard Mercy renders. 

I don't really want to spam you guys with just screenshots of 3ds Max, Zbrush and Substance Painter every single day when I make tweaks to certain things whether it be the brand-new-upcoming Widowmaker base mesh, Mercy's new clothes or something more mundane like props. 

Because sometimes it's just optimization of the topology of the mesh, and unless you're into 3D, you will probably just think that I wasted the 2 or so hours rerouting an edge loop just so that it follows the contours of the body or the underlying anatomy. Anywayyyyyy….

For anyone wondering, why it usually takes me a while to finish these, it's because I try to preserve the OW art style as much as I could. Currently, it is still a struggle and often leaves me frustrated because I'm not really that skilled yet when it comes to the semi-stylized look that OW has. While it's certainly easier to just grab an existing 3D asset from a different game or DAZ Studio, I'm not that big of a fan of those clashing and mixing realistic outfits with a cartoony stylized character.

Currently planned/Tentative Scheduled:

Mercy

• Schoolgirl - Almost ready. Planning to do a few fluff SFW stuff with this one too.
• Doctor - It will be similar to Sciamano's as planned. 
• Professor - still undecided with this one, I might skip it and just go straight to Witch.
• Witch - Halloweeeeeen spooooky stuff. 👻

Widowmaker

Base mesh to-do-list:

• Arms
• Final silhouette tweaks
• Final retopology
• Painting Textures
• Skinning
• Rigging (I'll be using a brand new control system that will alleviate the issues I was having with Mercy) 
• Shaders

ETA: Some time this month, because Fritz might actually keel me and I imagine it will be hard to make content if I'm daed.
