Just realized I can give you guys some early videos as an extra patron incentive! You might have seen that I'm doing mini reviews of each episode in a manner I'm HOPING won't trigger Shopro (hasn't so far, fingers crossed) and that will hopefully lead more people to the patreon for the full episodes. Episode 2 is up now but here's episode 3 a week early!

It's crazy how good early Pokemon is. Like, it used to have TEETH! Sharp, powerful fangs, and then they just kinda dulled over time

Definitely. The show's gradual loss of tone and textured worldbuilding (in favour of a more blandly utopic setup in which the vast majority of characters, by default, seem to be generically good-natured and helpful rather than wielding more specific dispositions in response to their social, familial or geographical positions) beginning in Johto is strangely sobering to witness. While high-quality episodes inevitably do exist beyond this point, they typically exude (to me, at least) a more white-bread kind of solidity, instead of the more narratively dense and atmospheric "mini-movies" of Kanto and the Orange Islands.
