Ash fought hard to get this new Pokemon, that he'll proceed to never use in a single gym battle, frontier brain challenge and only one league battle ever despite him being present for 2 of them...yay...

Also fun fact: when slowed down it is confirmed that Ash is the one who caught Totodile.

Fair point on Whitney, that battle set up is weird with the rematch so I forget who he used in it most of the time. My issue is that he's used in Major Battles so little when Cyndaquil but 3 gym battles, and one for Cyndaquil was before he was even caught.

a good thing is that later series have ash's gym leader companions catch pokemon that aren't their main types, for example Clemont only had Luxray on his main team

A titch so, perhaps, but you can't deny this is a rare sight indeed: A Pokemon of Misty's finally evolving. In fact, I'm pretty sure the only times Pokemon evolved on her team was Poliwag, TWICE! I could be wrong though, my memories of seasons 4 and 5 are a little iffy.

Huh, no wonder I still love the Totodile line to this day; it had the perfect Pokembassador! Also, bratty or not, Iwane and Asada's animation made the moments between Ash and Misty all the funnier. I mean really, when's the last time Ash's frustration was so lively as spastic?
