A little trivia about Blaine you should bring up in the next episode. You may notice that Blaine looks nothing like his game counterpart when he finally unveils himself. That's because the game design was a last minute change. If you look at the original artwork profile headshot, you would see Blaine with balding hair and no glasses or mustache. Just like anime Blaine. You can still see the original design of Blaine as an overworld sprite in Red and Blue where he was a balding man. Yellow changed it to a bald man with glasses. While anime Blaine does not resemble his game design, it is referenced in his hippie disguise with the mustache style and shades. I should also note that despite Magmar being an iconic Pokémon for Blaine, game Blaine didn't get Magmar at all until Gen II. Even in Yellow, the only Pokémon he has from the anime is Ninetales.

Huh thats actually interesting Evan. I always did wonder why they changed his artwork. Part of me says its because he kinda looked like another military guy ( Green shirt and his portrait being under Lt. Surge in the manual didn't help) Or that they wanted to represent the Pokemon Lab, and give him a lab coat.

I always mix Blaine and Surge up. Suede's right, the least interesting thing about Cinnabar is the gym.
