Thank you Funhouse Mirror. Another dirty secret about reporting assault is the institutionalized gaslighting of victims on college campuses. Saw a lot of this at Princeton University when I lived in town. Then heard horror stories from colleges all over the US. Had my own experiences too. Gaslighting was more successful in the days before cell phones when photographic and audio evidence were not easy to provide at the scene and victims were more helpless without many tools at their disposal.

Sorry that you had experiences with this. It is horrible and should not happen. The people in positions of authority and who are supposedly 'helpers' should actually protect and help. This goes on so much on college campuses. People go into it trustingly every year, parents send their kids or people take out loans, and then the institutions exist to protect themselves. It happened at the college I attended also. Nothing happened. Usually both students chose to transfer. The only one prosecuted was a stranger with a weapon, a man from town ('townie' in campus lingo) with a knife. There were only whispers going around. So all I know is, it went to court. I didn't want to hear about it but people were talking about it loudly in dorms, and even saying her name. No respect.
