On the Bug Hall bit. I wonder if he's repeating an abuse pattern. From personal experience, that's how Trad Con people are! Having been in an ultra conservative evangelical church/school growing up, fathers in those groups feel ownership over their daughter's bodies and it's beyond creepy. Luckily, my dad is my sane parent and didn't subject me to that stuff. Ownership over girls is the basis of the entire purity culture. Keep children ignorant of their bodies and consent (the things that can protect against abuse), while making them immediately obedient to authority figures. It takes minimal critical thinking skills to see the result/goal. I knew about abuse going on all around me, but the victims were always shamed and blamed despite being kids. I've tried to speak out about this in adulthood and specifically address the cause and effect of sexual abuse in those communities but I get dismissed because I'm no longer in the fold. The "groomer" deflection on everyone else who is secular or LGBTQ+, despite the data showing otherwise, is intentional.
