Interesting about Paulette: Chaplin typically chose really young women who were not his match at all, and basically used them physically at their expense. Paulette was 'older' (for him; late 20s I think?) and had a lot of gumption. He seemed to like people he could manipulate, apart from her. And of course Oona was 17 when they began as a couple, he was in his 70s I think?
