@Funhouse Mirror No one is perfectly objective but the idea is strive for objectivity in writing about the news. Part of the problem with the OG networks and cable stations is there is too much opinion and not enough straight news reporting. The fact she sued WaPo for giving the assignment to someone else highlights the fact she was the wrong person for the assignment. And regardless of what their newsroom policies are, as an adult she (like the rest of us) have to accept we will not always get our way in the workplace.

@Barbara Clark I am not familiar with the specific story or case you have cited in 2 comments. I'm just speaking generally. I agree with you that objectivity is always important. I agree if you are saying that in too many articles the line is blurred between news and editorial. I just do not agree that trauma automatically renders a person unable to see a topic objectively. That is saying that if anyone has gone to war, they can't write about it; anyone's been abused they can't write about it; etc. (objectively.) On that I disagree.
