I hope he wins the Oscar next year @Carolinedunham. Looking over his body of work he's a very impressive and subtle actor. He had the Venice audience on its feet for several minutes. He has a wide range of work from silly comedies to fairly somber work (Gods and Monsters.) And he seems like a good guy. Be nice to see someone nice win it.

I have Gods and Monsters on DVD somewhere, but just got a digital copy so I can watch it again. I really recommend that movie. That and Blast from the Past. Two very good movies, totally different genres, both have great writing/casts.
