Talking about bad memories (as a group) vs. alternate universe. Sometimes I feel like I may have slipped into a world adjacent to my original one, as far as I can tell exactly the same, but on this one here there was a second Space Shuttle accident (in 2003, the Columbia Disaster). I remember the first one (the Challenger disaster back in 1986), but have no memories at all of the second one; tried jarring my memory back by looking at photos of the crew, etc., but nothing. First time I noticed this was a couple of years ago, heard them talking about the Columbia disaster on the news, saying 2003. I wasn't paying much attention, but that caught it, and I was like, "Wait, what, the shuttle disaster was in 1986." So I went online to find out more about it. Funny thing, people I brought it up to, my wife, a friend, don't seem to have very clear memories of the disaster either. Possibly it just didn't hit my radar much when it happened. I was living in Tokyo, but not under a rock, read the paper, saw news every day... So who knows. Likelier than not, crap memory, but I do like the idea that I somehow slipped into another world (and am happy that if it's so, nothing else has visibly changed).
