I used to volunteer at The Smithsonian. The prevailing attitude is extremely politically correct. They would absolutely be protective of native cultures not wanting their tribal lands or burials being disturbed Even if there was knowledge to be distributed, they would hide the information in order to protect the indigenous people even if the indigenous people wanted to share the information. The Smithsonian is extremely politically correct and ( in my opinion) to the determinant of the history of the United States. I could tell you stories and this was 1990. I can’t imagine it he atmosphere now. It must be exhausting
