After a few days of research my opinion is that it was accidental how she ended up in the water. So I think she put her coat on with the intention of leaving that boat. Though she never left the boat alone, CWs cabin and to reach the Capt would mean she'd be outside. Or she could've been so wasted that she didn't even care and would leave alone. So she put that coat on with the intention of getting one of the guys and going ashore. Somewhere between that thought and her preparation, RW comes in (2nd time) and is like "you're not gonna make a scene and wake everyone and then go to a hotel all bruised up because people will ask questions". Natalie didn't care because fuck this guy who just beat her up yet again. I think either she was trying to get in the dinghy alone and he pushed her when her back was turned or he threw her overboard saying "get off my boat" but RW took the opportunity to "teach her a lesson" then freaked out that she'd leave him or go to the press anyway after he pulled her out. So he let her die out there. What leads me to this is that she took the time to put that coat on. The argument was so violent and it seemed she was trying to get away from him. I don't think she would have put that coat on purely to go onto the deck just to continue arguing with him. There's a reason why she put that coat on.
