Sketch Winners: Feb 2016 (Patreon)

Despite not QUITE getting enough for meet the personal goal this month (about $220 shy in total) BUT....I decided to do the drawing as I would anyway since the goal itself has been hit! The new algorithm makes goals a little trickier but I want to keep honest with my front page :D

- First name is from the new goal tier of a sketch raffle for all patrons (as long as the goal stays over $400 per post)

- Second name is from the old Reward Tier that I removed back in November

$220 is quite a lot of money... Is Patreon's cut that big, or is the amount of people that don't pay that large?

Patreon's estimate of what you get on the front page (that everyone can see) is very misleading. Even though they now account for people not paying + their own cut of things they still don't show that the payment decreases heavily with each post. Ex: I make what the front page says ($413 right now) on the first post of the month, but by the last post I am making $200-$250. This is because people set caps (which is fine!) but it is bad for things like goals which assume you are making $X consistently on every post.

Wow, okay. That isn't too transparent on Patreon's side. I alsways assumed you got the amount that was on the page (minus people that don't pay their pledges), but if it is done like that, maybe Patreon should just show a counter of hom much money was pledged in total last month and an estimate so far for the current month. Should be easier for you, us and new patrons.

I think if I set up my status to be "monthly" there would be a more accurate number. Since I am set up as "per page" I think it just optimistically estimates the highest number and always shows that. It's weird because I can definitely see the differences counting down on my own UI but I guess they have their reasons for not making them public!

I have no doubt they do =P And besides that, Patreon is a fairly new platform, so it could be something they're still working on. Who knows?
