๐ ๏ธ 3D Printing Tip : Flexible Build Plates (Patreon)
Content
Hello Everyone!
I am kicking off my 3D Printing Tips with flexible build plates for resin 3D printers!
๐ What is it?
Flexible build plates include two pieces. First piece is a magnetic block that you stick to your build plate. Second piece is thin metal sheet that sticks to the magnetic block. So it looks like a little sandwich, build plate + magnetic brick + metal sheet.
๐ Why does it matter?
The thin magnetic sheet is flexible and removable. So removing your prints is a breeze. You just bend it a little and it pops right off. Very helpful for large surface area prints and my pre-supported models. No scraper needed!
๐ฐ Okay, how much is it?
Around $15 USD!
Here are some examples you can purchase here!

I have tried a few different brands and they all work the same. Just make sure you buy one that fits your build plate!
โ Additional Tips!
- When you install it, make sure to REALLY clean your build plate. Light sanding, clean with IPA. Repeat that process a few times. Once you stick the magnetic block on there it usually needs to set for 2 to 3 days.
- Adhesion problems after install? Don't be afraid to sand that little metal sheet for better print adhesion! Still having problems? Bump up your bottom exposure.
- Re-level your printer after install! Do not install and print without re-leveling. The magnetic block+metal sheet make your print bed thicker so you want to make sure you tell your printer that before printing again so it doesn't crush your screen.
