Game Design - A New Adventure!

I'm making a game! I've spent the last few days toying with animation, programming, and of course 3D modeling. I'm sharing all my progress in the Discord so join here if you want to see all those updates :) The art style is low poly, but I am happy to share any 3D models I create for 3D printing if you'd want them!

Here is a small preview of my adventure so far.

I made some trees, rocks, and basic terrain in ZBrush. Then I put it into Unity, a game engine. Added a small cube and programmed it so the trees would explode when I touched them. I pretty much fell in love with the process on the spot haha It is frustrating and difficult and awesome. The physics simulations are much more friendly and fun than what I did with SolidWorks when I was getting my mechanical engineering degree. So that was a huge plus.

First Character

She has no face, but other than that quite adorable. A very early concept of the potential protagonist of my game. I made my very first animation yesterday with her!!! She wiggles and dances and I love it. I'm going to try and share a short video of that in the Discord later today!

When will it be finished?

Since I will be a solo game dev, expect more than 6 months before there is even a semblance of a  prototype lol

What is it about?

It will be an alchemy sim. You play as a witch and make elixirs and salves for the townsfolk as day-to-day tasks. Your main job is to provide potions for a dragon. In exchange, the dragon agrees not to destroy your village. How nice of them.

I adore sweet games like Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing. I don't plan on any combat. It is going to be a collecting and crafting game with a lot of customization.

What about 3D sculpting?

There are lots of hours in the day, so I can do both :) Plus the game development is just for fun. Sculpting for yall is my #1 priority.

That's everything! Have a lovely day :)

Best,

Mia Kay
