Thank you, Daria. Your posts are very informative. Could you please post or share your color swatches for you mixes. It would help in practicing mixing. I know you’ve shown us how you match you color mixing to your reference. But I feel that having a selection of swatches would help.

Hi Carlos, sorry for replying slowly. You know, I think it’s best to practice mixing colors with a reference you print (or to create your own swatches if necessary) Every time I mix colors it’s different. Sometimes I premix just 3 tones and it’s enough, sometimes I premix a lot of colors counting in the hues.. it’s different every time. You need to master the color-mixing process itself, how to get to a certain tone, which amounts of colors to add, how to use the color-wheel when needed; and you can practice it with any tone you select. You can even try mixing your own skin tone (placing your left hand close to the palette and trying to match the color) - which I find to be a cool exercise!
