Lustfall - Update 9 Development Log - August 2023 (Patreon)

It's been a while since I've gotten a chance to do one of these proper. With The Capture Games up and the Steam version in the first round of the approval process, I can finally turn my attention back on Lustfall! There's a lot to be done for Update 9 on my end, so it's a little more complex than just getting that art for the battle cards (and maybe a bad end or two).

The previous Side Dungeons actually encompassed a lot of the battle cards that would've normally debuted in this Update, so the base number is fortunately a bit lower than it has been for a while.

Story Chapter

Our heroines set out into the Dry Spell Desert towards the mysterious Tomb of the Collector. As unpleasant as a trip through the scorching desert may be, there's also something strange going on...

This Update isn't called the "Golden Sands" for nothing! There are golden statues that look suspiciously like people littered throughout the path. If you're not careful, those statues might start to look suspiciously like our heroines...

It's not just the desert either. It seems as if all of the people who were journeying to the Tomb of the Collector met a similar fate. Could this be more environmental effects of the Lustfall, or is there something more sinister afoot?

More will be revealed in the coming months...

Hypnocasino Sidequest!

The first of TWO, that's right, TWO side quest dungeons designed in part by dedicated fans/supporters.

The first of which is an entrancing casino dungeon full of enthralling magic and mesmerizing traps. The heroines will need to keep their minds focused to prevent falling into the clutches of the mysterious mage who happens to have a thing for Gwendolyn. ("Why is it always Gwen?! UGH! LAAAAME" - Cherri)

Expect some fun transformations from our heroines.

Possession Prison Sidequest!

Out in the ocean, there is a prison that has lost contact from the outside world due to leyline disruptions caused in part by the Lustfall. The twisted place is home to plenty of vile people that will use techniques such as body swapping and possession to "help" our heroines get their revenge on a perilous profiteer in this paranormal prison.

Kickstarter / Indiegogo?!

With about two Updates left and less time to work on them with each passing moment, I wanted to give crowdfunding a go, with plenty of stretch goals and milestones. I can't exactly sell Lustfall itself, since I don't have explicit permission to use every artist's work in a game that's for sale (they know that it's free and I have a Patreon), I need some way to justify (and keep my head above water, financially speaking) spending the time I WANT to spend on it.

I'll go into more of it once it's set up, but the plan would be as follows:

1. Base amount would cover the estimated art for the rest of the Lust Magic art plus the fees from Kickstarter/Indiegogo. With this I will focus on Lustfall to release it as a finished game, still 100% free for everyone, in one update instead of two/three.

2. Extra funds will be used to work on a complete overhaul of the game. The story and lewds will be 100% free as always, but the improved combat, better resolution, unique battle visuals for the heroines, etc... will be exclusive to a special version. The enhanced version will be for backers, for sale (once it's done), AND for anyone who has given at minimum the enhanced version cost in the past (I will add up all of your past contributions). That is the fairest way I can think to do things, and everyone wins.

3. Funds beyond that will be used for more Lewd End CGs, since they are, by far, the most expensive and difficult thing to commission. There's around 40-50 "scenes" (with 10 having CGs right now), so that task should soak up any extra.

4. I could go beyond and look into getting some VAs to voice some things if we have success beyond that. Or perhaps I could pay someone to localize it for bigger, non-English speaking areas. Getting this much would be beyond words, so I don't have anything super concrete for it.
