When you're so busy into a new project, you really do lose track of the time. Just like that, it's now June and I have some fun stuff to share with everybody today! I don't really know what else I need to say to lead into things so here we go!

Lustfall - Update 9

Now that Update 8 is out, it's time to slowly start on Update 9's commissions. To be honest, I probably won't look at it too much until my next game is released, but there's plenty of good stuff coming up in the future, so it will be worth the wait. One thing in particular is ANOTHER bonus dungeon thanks to the amazing support of another individual. This side dungeon will involve hypno-mages, and one in particular that takes a very personal interest in Gwen.

The dungeon will feature the four heroines that will get hypn*tized and transformed throughout the dungeon. For example, are you tired of stuffy, prudish Gwen? Why not bimbbunny Gwen instead?

Of course, this is a perfect opportunity to feature the return of Maid Syn as well. I've also been looking into options for what the TFs from the other two could be so I'm still working through ideas.

NEW GAME! - The Capture Games

I've decided on a title for our little island escape game at long last. While I was neutral about the title at first, it's really grown on me since. It invokes the imagery of sneaking around a big area for the entertainment of others, trying to avoid getting caught by those who seek to do just that. It fits well with the thesis of the game and I hope it "captures" the excitement of what's to come.

Despite the similar UI, I've made a ton of progress since this time last month. As you can see, there are interiors to some buildings that you will find across the island. These will be useful for finding items that you need to keep your stamina up and will help you avoid the drones that will eventually score a hit on you if you're outside for too long.

Beautiful! Majestic! Each cabin goes to a random interior for each run/attempt at the game, so familiar locations may lead to unfamiliar buildings. It's usually a good idea to pop inside when you see one... but there's a tiny chance that you may get stuck in there for a bit.

I've completed the initial set of maps too! From the forest filled with leaves and bushes, to the relaxing beaches filled with sand piles (that are perfect for enemies to hide in), there's a nice variety of pieces to combine in different ways. Each run of The Capture Games will provide a new experience while allowing enough familiarity that you will be able to master it in time.

Of course, part of that variety is the spawning of enemies and traps. Your characters LUK (Luck) and ART (Alertness) play a large part in the number of obstacles that spawn when you first enter a map AND whether or not those obstacles are visible to you. If you're not very alert, you'll find yourself stumbling over noisy tree branches or into immobilizing traps!

There's also treasures to find beyond what you need to escape and that's what I am deep in the middle of coding right now. You can get bonus Lewda to help unlock new relics, even if you don't escape. There are various foods that not only replenish your stamina, but it will also increase your base stats for the duration of the run! Just be careful of opening every chest you see, or you might find yourself a little tied up.

There are also items that will transform you temporarily into something wild that will give massive bonuses to one stat, while severely limiting another. (But hey, at least you'll be protected from losing if you are caught while transformed).

This character is just the first, Lauren Ann Jodie, but there are going to be two others that have different starting stats to mix things up. I'll likely make this month's preview week be about TCG for everyone who's not subbed to start the hype train and if I do that, I am tempted to do an OC character contest or add in a character from one of my other games. I had a ton of fun with the Hanaja's Body content and really want to do another one. I can also do something like a "Sponsorship" where, for a flat price, I can add your OC and their game over CG to the game... but that would be for those with A LOT of disposable income only (Like around $1,000 USD).

A lot of it I still have to work on. I would love to implement some sort of basic struggle system when caught in a snare, but that will be lower on the list. I still need to get the basics up and running before I can go around polishing everything.

I've also been toying around with the idea of releasing this to Steam Early Access (and giving you all keys for it) but I have some reservations...

  • By the time it gets to the Early Access stage in development, the game will be close to being finished so I might as well just save myself the hassle and finish it.
  • There's an expectation with Rougelike games that going from Early Access to Release will result in an explosion of new content, which is not necessarily the plan. Sure, if the game does well I am happy to do post launch content, but the reality of the situation is that I have to start a new project very quickly to keep up with the bills, so I don't want to piss everyone off by not delivering to their genre expectations.
  • People expect a lower price because of EA, which I cannot afford to do for a game like this. If the EA price was $10 USD, the launch price would be $15 USD and evidence has shown from Veronica's Body that, despite the amount of content, a lot less people are willing to go in for 15 bucks over 10, so I could be shooting myself in the foot (which I don't have the luxury of doing).

Regardless, I still have a lot of stuff to do on the game so it's difficult to pin down a good release date. Mid-July would be ideal, but that heavily depends on how much I can get done this month. There's a lot of interlocking systems, and it's all COLD. HARD. CODE! Working around RPG Maker limitations is a ton of fun even if it deep fries the brain after a day of coding and logic.

That's all I have to report for this month! Time to get back to the grind so I can share something truly special with you all soon!

Stay safe and stay kinky~
