Welcome to the fifth Supper Mario Broth Supper Show podcast. In this 1 hour-long episode, I discuss the level design of Donkey Kong Country 3 and how it is able to create a streamlined platforming experience with only few new mechanics or elements added in each level. The podcast starts with me talking about the design of Mario game levels, so even if you are not particularly interested in the Donkey Kong Country series, you may want to listen to, or read, the beginning section to learn more about the design paradigms of Mario platformers.

If you wish to read along, you may download the script for this episode, in PDF or in text file form, found in the Attachments section below the article.

Thank you very much for your support. I welcome all feedback regarding the quality of the podcast.

This is great! I think more Donkey Kong content would be fantastic, and the merchandise explanation is a great way to justify it.

I feel like this sort of content is better suited to an article than a podcast. The lengthy lists of precise enemy arrangements drone on a bit in an audio format and would likely be improved by the inclusion of images.

Thank you for this podcast! Having never played a Donkey Kong Country game before, I decided to try and 'play along' with the podcast (as in, I listened to each bit of the podcast after completing the relevant level of the game) and I think it was helpful to make me think more about the areas I'd just played and to try and anticipate what you'd say about them. Plus it inspired me to complete the game!
