baxter “So, how is [first_name] getting there?”

“At some point your lack of a bike, or anything else, had been the topic of conversation.”

qiu “[They’re/She’s/He’s] with [Tamarack/me].”

baxter “That’s generous.”

“Baxter said it with the complacency of someone who would proudly not offer that kind of gesture himself.”

if riding with qiu:

“That was one mystery solved, however the boy’s club wasn’t done questioning things yet.”

ren “Alright Qiu, you can do that, but-”

if riding with tam:

“That solved the mystery, however the boy’s club remained skeptical.”

ren “But she, uh, Tamarack only has a scooter for both of them.”

if mc has bike:

ren “She, uh, Tamarack, doesn’t have a bike.”

if other type of wheels:

ren “They don’t have bikes.”

ren “How [is she/are they] gonna keep up?”

“Tamarack squinted her eyes, insulted by such questioning.”

tam “Hey, [scooters/scooters and [wheels]] are just as good as bikes.”

“Darren couldn’t meet her dark red gaze. He could only mumble out of one corner of his mouth.”

ren “Not for going fast…”

“Before Tamarack could disagree again only for Darren to say something else she didn’t like, Qiu laughed.”

qiu “Wow Darren, it’s so nice of you to wanna make sure nobody gets left behind! But you know-”

“Qiu slooowly smiled while graaadually getting higher on his toes until he was nearly eye level with Darren.”
qiu “I could ask that same question every time I ride with anyone else. ‘Cause no one is as fast as me.”

“Qiu cut his hand through the air like he was striking down an invisible field of opponents.”

“Then he jabbed a hooked finger into Darren’s chest. Maybe the challenge wasn’t pretend after all.”

qiu “But I don’t ask it and I have fun anyway, and so do other people. Alright? It’s gonna be good.”

“This time Darren whispered from the opposite side of his lips.”

ren “Alright.”
