Our Life: Now & Forever Pre-Launch Kickstarter Page! (Patreon)

The Kickstarter for Our Life: Now & Forever will go live in fall of 2023! Whether it'll end up being in September, October, or November I'm not entirely sure yet. But it could be happening in as little as three months, so I've gotta start promoting this already, haha. I just didn't want to do it until the last of the OL1 DLCs was actually out. Since it is, here we are.

The campaign will have perks like keys for the DLCs, the soundtrack, and such. However, it'll also be the place where you can get yourself a voiced name and be listed in the credits!

When the crowdfunding begins an expanded demo is going to become available as well 💖. Things will be pretty exciting. (The public demo won't ever be longer than the Patreon beta, though.)

Game Story:

Begin your life anew in this second installment to the lovingly nostalgic Our Life series! Create an experience that’s all your own in this near-fully customizable, choice-heavy story.

Fall settles over the charming mountain town of Golden Grove as the story  begins. But it isn't only glittering leaves that are changing. You and your mom leave behind everything you knew before when you move to a new home nestled right in the middle of a tight knit cul-de-sac. It’s there where a paper airplane lands at your feet and brings you to  unanticipated crossroads.

Make your own path through life as you grow from childhood to adulthood with your two closest neighbors. Even in the chilly autumn weather, it’ll be a truly heartwarming time.

I'm sorry, I'm not sure what you mean by special keys. Do you mean DLC codes on Steam/Itch? You won't be able to get them on Patreon until OL2 launches as a bonus perk. They can't be pre-ordered here like they can on Kickstarter.

I’m not sure if this is a stupid question, but is kickstarter like patreon where there’s monthly payments or is it a one time thing? can’t wait for the kickstarter to launch, and looking forward to what’s to come for OL2!

Can I ask what the difference is between patreon tiers and what we'd get from the Kickstarter?

When it comes to the voiced names, is there going to be a list posted for what names have been submitted so far? If the name has already been submitted, would we be able to ask for another one (such using a middle name or to be able to come up with a name that wasn't already submitted)? If voiced names were handled the way OL1 had (which was great, since I was able to use my spelling for my name while), it'd be nice to be able to add in a name that wasn't already added to the list.

The Kickstarter allows you to pre-order things you could eventually buy off a store front; DLC keys, the soundtrack, etc. But it's also a place to get rewards you could get from the Patreon if you'd rather pay all up front instead of on a month-to-month basis, like playing a large some for beta access for the entire development period. The Kickstarter will also be the only place you'll be able to request a voiced name because that'd be too hard to manage on the Patreon.

There's no way to show the names until they've been sent in, and once they've been sent in they can't be changed. But we encourage people to include a list of names they'd like rather than a single option. If the first option is already requested, we move on to the second, and so on.

Cool, that reminds me of 'City of Heroes'. 🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️ The Devs/community moderators were very careful to not allow players to use copyrighted/trademarked character names to avoid infringements. If you had a name that made it through the restricted name filter, but was still a name you shouldn't be able to use, they give you a chance to have the character renamed. They let you offer them a list of names you'd prefer to change the character's name to. They'd move down the list if the names were still restricted (even the most obscure character name was a no-no), until they reach one that was allowable.

Yay! I'm so glad I get to be a part of OL2's campaign! I'm still sad I wasn't able to donate for OL1 but now I get to make up for it! So excited!!!

I didn't get the chance to participate in OL1's campaign since I discovered the game after the initial release, but I hope I'll be able to do it this time, and especially to get a voiced name in there!
