Hey, everyone! It's finally time for the beta update. The gang's all here and they're all grown up, well mostly grown up, haha. Derek's Step 2 scenes were added last time, so this version has that still and now includes part of the Step 4 story. It's not all of Step 4, but it is a very large chunk of it.

You'll have to start a brand new file for Derek's beta content to unlock, but there is an option at the beginning to skip right to Step 2.

Important Notes:

  • In order to get Derek's Step 4 content you have to play all his Step 2 Moments and keep in touch with him during Step 3
  • Some backgrounds in Step 4 are reused from Step 2 because their Step 4 version isn't completed yet
  • Not all the new characters have voice acting currently, though some do

New Content:

  • A large portion of Derek Step 4 content
  • 54,450 words worth of new scenes
  • Two additional CGs
  • Mr. Suarez and Jorge (Step 2) now have voiced lines added throughout their scenes
  • A new screen to let you choose which version of Step 4 to play, the original or Derek's version
  • New sprites and backgrounds were implemented

The monthly beta build updates usually range from 15k-20k words added, so this 54k one is absolutely massive. I really wanted to make sure players could get into the Step 4 time period rather than it being a sneak peek. I hope you all enjoy seeing the Suarez family grow up 😊

Silly Question in step 4 in park, if you havent confessed your feelings earlier he states that he loves you. Then later goes to confess his feelings, but decides not to. Was that intentional?

I'm only a little ways into step 4 but I'm having such a good time with it that I had to pause to come and comment on it... I'm tearing up of happiness a bit, thanks for everything GB :')

You guys are absolute sadists for making such likeable bachelors, I've been looking forward to Derek's route only to still be so emotionally attached to Cove and feeling awful friendzoning him. Having to mash that skip button to avoid the guilt lol out of sight out of mind.

I feel like their are too few comments appreciating the work you did on this, so I will 😭 This literally had me TEARING UP. It's so good! And all the LI's are so relatable. I found that I could relate to Cove and Derek, which is kind of insane to me because I've never read a visual novel wherein I could equally resonate with more than one love interest. I'm literally speechless right now. Like I was when I first played Cove's Step Four story. This is just as good if not better imo. I would love to give you details about aspects I loved, but there's literally so much to cover so ig this is gonna be like Cove's DLC where I can't really review it for weeks and just keep replaying until I grow sick of it lmao

I just wanted to let you know, this is REALLY good. You're writing is so unique and unmatched. I can't wait until Baxter's comes out. At this point, I'm almost sure I'll be able to relate to him in one way another. You do such an excellent job at making these characters feel real.

I feel so silly but how do you get Derek’s step 2 moments ? I can choose how to feel about him in the beginning of the step but the rest of it is like regular. Am I missing something obvious ?

The most traumatizing part of the update was "and that's where the beta ends", I wanna cry it was so good. I love how the boys haven't changed personality-wise. I loved every moment, I can hardly wait for MOAR! 🥰🥰🥰

I'm having the same issue but with step 4 because it only chooses cove instead of Derek. I've already done Derek's step 2 and pick the kept in contact with him but it's still not showing what should i do

yeah mines are still locked. i don't know how to open them up. i mean i unzipped the file and it won't open up for me. idk if i'm suppose to move files into the main game file or not. i didn't have this issue with any of the cove beta files so i'm don't know what i'm doing wrong.

if it helps your character is not "friendzoning" cove. cove is ace (demisexual is on the ace spectrim) he will not have those kind of feelings for your characters are just friends. that's why he doesn't get all shy or blushy around your character.

Myla, It is probably pulling from the base game like a DLC should. But as the Beta, it will need to pull files from the beta folder instead. If you have Steam, then try exiting Steam first (or logging off will do it too and then don't log back in if prompted). If that doesn't work, try installing the Beta on another device. If that doesn't work, let me know what device you're using. I may be able to help you troubleshoot.

Oh thanks. Never figured out why it wouldn't load on my computer. Got it to work on my phone though. Go figure. 😅
