I'll tell you a little secret... something that even the big muckety-mucks of the comic book industry don't want you to know.

Sometimes, comic book covers just plain LIE!! XD

It's true! Sometimes, in order to put your best foot forward and to generate excitement for a comic, covers will stretch the truth a little. You could say they extrapolate from events that happen within the issue's story in order to come up with an arresting image that will immediately catch the eye and, well -- let's be honest -- SELL the comic!

Today, I'm so happy to share the first of three MY BOYFRIEND IS A SUPERHERO #5 covers. This particular cover is inspired by the issue's first story "STILL LIFE". Above you can see my rather ratty little thumbnail concept sketch (in purple), and ALEXANDER'S more refined sketch that would eventually take us to the finished art.

I love that we don't actually see FELIX turned to gold in the story itself, and that this cover gives us the chance to see what our hunky ginger hero would look like as a "the David" inspired Golden God of a statue!
