Chaplin films are a huge blind spot for me that I want to correct. That being said, The Gold Rush stands the test of time surprisingly well. When it comes to physical comedy, the list of people who can hang with Chaplin is incredibly short. The biggest flaw in this film would probably be the lack of a plot line with any real depth. Despite this though, Chaplin challenges you to look away and keeps you engaged any time he is on screen. The forks/dinner rolls dance scene is iconic and even though it’s 96 years old still made me laugh. 3/5

No one is more shocked than me that my rewatch of Charlie Chaplin's The Gold Rush was not as funny as I remember. I love the man. His physical presence and expressions are second to none in silent cinema. This just wasn't funny enough. 7/10!
