As an Englishman I can say that Chopper had a fair cult following in the UK once it got a DVD release at the beginning of the 2000s. I've seen it several times and now will dig out my copy and give it a re-watch. Brits born in the late 1970s or Early 80s were brought up on what was then an exotic diet of Sons and Daughters, Neighbours and later Home and Away. As soon as these individuals were old enough to drink, there was a good chance they would be served by an antipodean working behind the bar. This may explain why Australian movies generally found a loyal, if not massive following. Chopper himself is very reminiscent to us of our more notorious criminals especially Bronsan and as such is surprisingly believable as a character. This was definitely the UK's first exposure to Bana and certainly put him on the radar for serious film fans. great work chaps!
