The problem with applying irl morals to fiction is that fictional supervillians are sometimesade to be irredeemable. No matter what you do, they're just going to keep trying to do terrible things. Locking them up is just putting off the inevitable since they'll magic superpower or plothole their way out. Had a discussion about the morals recently and I came to the conclusion that most people see death as denying someone the right to see their flaws and make a change. It makes the assumption that the weight of their past wrongs will always outweight their future good.
