I had a break for my own campaign for a couple months. I knew what to do with the story, but I didn’t know how to get there. I didn’t know what to do for half of the players arc and how to tie it in with the story. Tensions were high in the group so I decided that now would be a great time for us to pause and take a little break. That way some players could have a breather and focus on them selves while also giving myself time to figure out what the fuck I was gonna do. This ended up being the greatest idea for me, half way through our couple month break I decided not to be lazy and took time to think. During which I figured out what to do and even gave a purpose to one of my players, whom I struggled to find and arc for and nearly gave up. summing her up to “She’s a mushroom who’s just there with you guys.” Something I didn’t want to do, BUT NOW??? I’ve got everyone figured out! I even know whose arc would be next in the time line. I reworked some thing in the main story that fits better and now we’re starting back up this Sunday! There’s no telling what my players will do to throw us off track. But at least I know what was gonna happen and see how their new decisions are gonna affect the plan and the world. All of this to say, take your time! I love Riptide, but if you can make it better? And gain more confidence in your work as a dm and a story teller? Then do it! I think having a writing coach is a great idea too! Having that guidance and outside prospective can really help bring new ideas and solutions to your game. I truly love and care for all the character and players, this group is one of my favorite dnd groups besides D20. I can’t wait what goodies you’ll gift us and stories you’ll tell!!!!

Thank you for the update, Grizz! It's been shown quite a lot through things like the Suckening and the later Riptide Episodes, but it seems like JRWI's production value has grown exponentially. It's very exciting to see, and I'm ecstatic to hear that Riptide's writing is coming along nicely. I do hope you guys are still having fun recording sessions. Excited for the upcoming campaigns! But I do have one question: once all the complications are figured out and we get back to regular campaign uploads, will we return to a dual upload schedule at any point? Just wondering because there was 2 episodes + 2 rolled per week, but for the last few months it has been 1 episode every 2 weeks. And if I weren’t a patron I wouldn’t have any JRWI content at all for the last few months. This podcast is what keeps me sane during work and because of the hiatus I had to start actually listening to other DnD podcasts if you can believe it lol.

First of all: Thanks for the Update! I am a DM myself for 2 Campaigns, that I run next to each other (same world) and I can totally understand that this hiatus was important for u Grizz. I cant fathom how you were able to keep up ur great DMing for soooo long without a proper break and time to prepare. Huge props. I really admire ur work (and the perfomance of all the boys ofc) that u put in Riptide and u are a importnat inspiration for my own DM Style. Take the time you need.
