This will be from my experience with maybe a bit different but. Don't be afraid to ask for more numbing agent. Seriously, Better to be numb for the entire day that be in pain. To avoid putting your tongue anywhere near the area last thing you want is to accidentally open it back up and cause it to bleed and take longer to heal. Finally, after everything's healed up, I suggest being very careful around sharper foods like chips you don't know pain until you've accidentally opened up an old wound by cutting it with a f****** potato chip. Other than that, the dentist pretty much will tell you everything else you need to know and they probably know more about the procedure than anyone on here. This stuff was just from my personal experience with getting one taken out.

Try not to worry too much! In my experience, the pain killers made it so the worst pain I ever had mild enough that if I wasn't mentally checking to see if there was still pain, it was pretty much unnoticeable, and easily forgotten about, so hopefully you won't have to worry about that! I don't know how common this is, but I was put to sleep before mine were removed, but I guess some places just numb you, so I can't really say much there, but if they are knocking you out for it, then you definitely don't have to worry about the procedure at all. I'd say the worst part is how limited you are in terms of food choices for a while, since you don't want crumbs getting in the socket/wound/whatever you want to call it. For me, I think I just stuck to pudding, mashed potatoes, and maybe ramen, and after a few days I was dying for just a regular chicken sandwich or something, lol. Anyways, I hope it goes well, and that the recovery is quick and pain-free!

Not gonna lie it's gonna suck for a week or two but follow your doctor's advice and you'll be fine. I had mine done this January. Honestly take it easy for a week and have jello pudding and soft foods ready you will be on a liquid diet basically for the first few days. The most important thing is to make sure no food gets into the hole while it's healing over infection is the last thing you want. Make sure you have distractions ready if you feel pain start to come back. I did not get very effective pain meds for it so I played video games and listened to music to distract myself when I needed it. The hardest part is not being able to eat anything solid so make sure you have good soft foods to eat. Ramen is a godsend when you can eat noodles about halfway through recovery. At that point you're gonna want to be eating scrambled eggs, ramen, and you can easy your way into more soft solid foods as long as the cavity in your gums stays clear of any food. Make sure you drink a lot of water and avoid anything that can irritate the wound like soda or strong drinks. Good luck and I hope you heal quickly and I hope recovery goes smoothly. Well be waiting for you when you're ready to come back
