Vote on March's Topics!
- Is AI piracy? 36
- How Linux ate Unix 55
- Using Linux at work - GNOME edition 44
- Nextcloud's announcement 27
Hey everyone, it's now time to vote on the topics you'd like to see in March!
The ones I'll definitely cover are the following:
- Linux News: there will be 4 of these in March, some on Sundays, since I'll be on holidays at the end of next week, until March 4th, so the first News video of March will probably be on the 5th when I get back home.
- Iodé review: a look at this privacy focused ROM for Android, installed on a Pixel 5. They sent me a review unit, so who knows, maybe this will be the thing that gets me back to Android?
- System76 Pangolin Review: a look at this pretty powerful laptop, and the first I've ever reviewed from System76!
- Linux packaging formats explained: I get a lot of comments asking me for this, and the video I have on this is pretty dated, so it's time for a refresher
- Distro Awards: I'll let the audience of the channel vote on a set of predefined options for a lot of categories, like "most user friendly", "most stable", etc... And I'll compile that in a dedicated video.
- GNOME 44: this should release in March, so of course we'll take a look at what's new!
- Is Flathub a bad thing? an extension of a topic I discussed in the Patroncast, on centralization of software in one single place (namely, Flathub), and if it could be an issue
And now, here are the topics you get to vote on:
- Is AI piracy?: since I already talked about a lot of my feelings and thoughts in the Patroncast, I think I'm ready to try and put them in a video, being as objective as possible with the usefulness of these technologies, and the risks they pose
- How Linux ate Unix: a look at how and why Linux became virtually the only (or at least the biggest) Unix compatible system out there
- Using Linux at work - GNOME edition: I covered how I used elementaryOS, and KDE to get work done, but since I'm now using GNOME, I could also explain how I use it to get work done, my current setup, and the apps I use
- Nextcloud's announcement: they'll have a "special launch event" in Berlin on March 21st, which I've been invited to attend. I won't be there physically, but it looks like they'll announce more security, privacy oriented features, something about "ethical AI", and a solution for "digital sovereignty", so it might be interesting to cover what comes of it (I'll be watching the even in a livestream, I suppose)
So, vote for the ones you'd like to see, and I'll pick the 2 with the most votes!
Best,
Nick
