Hey everyone!

Here's your weekly podcast, this time episode 49 of season 2:

In this one, I talk about:

- 01:04 Intel using DXVK in their Arc Drivers for improving game performance

- 08:58 Hardware reviews, how I made way too many this year, and why they're so uninspiring to work on

- 18:36 Channel updates, including potentially dropping a sponsor

Let me know what you think about all this!

Best,

Nick

Hi Nick! First of all, thank you for creating the content you create. I find it entertaining and informative to such an extent that I decided to support you here. Seems like I'm putting my money where my mouth is. I am listening to your Patroncast---thank you for creating it!---, and just finished listening to the part where you talk about hardware. It was very interesting to hear you talk about what goes into a hardware review video. It makes perfect sense. Thank you for unpacking it all, and thank you for taking these reviews seriously. As you might have guessed, I am one of those who really enjoy these hardware reviews. Not sure whether I show up in your statistics, since I use NewPipe and the like to subscribe and watch, not YT's interface or apps directly. I've always found hardware interesting, and the next best thing to trying it out myself is hearing someone else talk about their experience with it. Laptops are central to my computing, so I care quite a bit about them, and Linux-first is something I strive for wherever I can. Which is where your reviews stand out to me, because not only do you review laptops, you make an effort to review those that ship with Linux, and you care about Linux and the Linux experience (yes!) yourself. I don't know of many reviewers like that. (Maybe because it's such a rough and ungrateful niche?) Having said that, it first and foremost has to work for you. If you don't enjoy what you are doing, why do it in the first place? Very sorry about those stupid comments. It seems they are hard to avoid in general. Again, thank you for all your hard work. And thank you for giving us this option to support you.

About OnlyOffice, I'd probably end up dropping if (1) I could do it financiallt and (2) I knew that I would constantly have this question and doubt. I'd be more at peace dropping than constantly questioning it. If you're the same, I'd recommend dropping.

It's not that I don't enjoy making the videos, they're actually cool to create, but the result of the video is generally super disappointing :/ Still, they're important, but I won't make as many next year, that's for sure!
