Hey everyone!


As promised last week, here is Episode 8 of the Patroncast, in which I'll exclusively talk about the channel, because it's its 4 years Birthday :)


I'll go over why I started it, with what gear and what purpose, and how it grew, give it a listen if you're interested!


A shorter video form of this patroncast might be released on the channel in a few hours. Maybe. If I'm not too lazy.

Happy birthday! I joined around the middle, in February 2020, so I didn't see the super-early part, the videos were already scripted and edited, you already had sponsors... but even looking back at it, so much things have changed! The lighting, the video and sound quality, the tone (with those close-to-camera jokes), the sponsor transitions, and even the thumbnails -- I still love the new style with the white cut-out tile on colorful background. The content is still great, and all these small details improving around it really contribute to the quality of the channel as a whole, in my opinion. Thank you Nick for making the Linux desktop better for everyone, I wish you all the best for your (many) projects, and long live the Linuxperiment Media Group! 🎉

Thank you for the kind words :) I don't like to congratulate myself, but when I look back even a year, I can see how much I've improved :D There is plenty of stuff I still need to work on to make these videos even better, but I'm really happy about where the channel is right now in terms of quality!
