Hey Everyone!

Happy New year, and I hope you had great holidays! Here's to 2022, and hoping it's better than the year that came before it.

In this patroncast, the first episode of the second season, I talk about:

00:54 My Holidays and the new studio

05:52 Ubuntu hiring a Desktop Gaming manager

15:58 Goals for the channel in 2022, and asking your opinion on it

I hope you enjoy listening to it!

Hi Nick. I feel you. This new years eve one of my kids got covid (zero health effects), so I am stuck at home in isolation since 26/12. YES! That revamped office means a delay on coming to PT... so it suxs :D

Bonne année Nick! All the best wishes for 2022. Glad to hear your holidays were so enjoyable and socializing didn't feel too forced this time. I'm a bit sad to hear that Odysee is going downhill. After you first mentioned it, I started watching your videos there, as I'm trying to get away from YouTube and most tech giant related platforms. I noticed Jason also removed his channel from Odysee completely. I wish there were better alternatives YouTube. Now I'm not saying this is something you have to do for my sake, but if you want to add more value for Patreon supporters, you could consider offering videos via Patreon hosted on some paid platform. I know instead of earning money from views you'd have to pay, but the benefit for Patrons can be an ad- and tracking free experience. Also, I'm all for more Linux news. I'm really grateful for your summaries of recent Linux related events and it was one of the things that got me to keep up with your videos in the first place. But I guess I am kind of among that podcast-liking type of audience you described. I usually enjoy listening to your videos (and Patron casts) while doing the dishes, because as I don't really have much time to myself generally. I realize I'm probably in the minority though.

Thanks a lot, Happy New Year to you too! Yeah, Odysee was kind of a disappointment. I joined back when it was LBRY, and at that time, I felt it had a shot at becoming a real competitor, but their focus on the alt right / free speech by any means crowd has really driven it downhill. I'm thinking about giving patrons ad free videos, without the sponsor segues, or mentions, this could definitely be one of the main new perks. As per Linux news, I'm still debating whether to change the format or not, I think I'll just ask people on Youtube and see what they're thinking!
