Hey hey hey... welcome to Portugal. Porto is really a great city for you to live! it even has a main dish that is called "Little French Girl!"... I kid you not!. Basically a croque Monsieur avec du steak, saucisse et un sauce à la Bierre divinalhahhahaa... to be eaten with french fries :D . Et oui... you will have a lot of people here that speak french(ish) as it is taught in major schools as a third language (optional), english is mandatory as second language for everyone. I live in Lisbon... it is more sunny, and you can go to the beach almost 6 months per year (even into the water), in Porto beaches are more challenging and the weather is usually grey(ish). In Porto you don't have "calçada portuguesa" everywhere in the streets, and/but you have people that are 2000% more natural and friendly than in Lisbon. One thing is certain... even not speaking the same language, no one will refuse to give you an answer if you pose us a question.... We are really friendly. But Porto gents are more "natural", more real. I also prefer Porto's Douro River to Lisbon's Tagus as both margins are really really close so there is no disconnect between Porto and Gaia as per opposition to Lisbon and Almada. I do prefer Lisbon, but really love to visit Porto even if it is just for food and some nights of pleasure. And it is the perfect starting point to got to a lot of cool places like Guimaraes, Braga, or even Vigo in our Spanish neighbours. Anyway... Welcome to Portugal, and if you want my personal contact, just ping me directly... for when you come to Lisbon...

This sounds amazing! Can’t wait to spend the week there, and hopefully plan the move!
