Hey everyone!

The patroncast is back, after my small week of Holidays!

This time, we are discussing:

 - Mint users not doing their updates, and how that's a wider issue for all operating systems

- The GNOME Software redesign, which has me very excited, and looks very nice

- The "Big Tech Detective" extension, which blocks all website that even try and access an IP address owned by one of the "Big Tech" companies. Fun to watch the web crumble.

I hope you enjoy! Have a nice week!

Oh ok! Thank you for the clarification! I guess it’s hard to shift mindset and think about projects instead of a whole « team » assigning priorities :) I thought these mockups were new, sorry for the mistake :)

Hello Nick, thank you for this Patroncast. I hope you had a nice holiday. The BigTechDetective extension is brilliant. Great find. (Note I can write here with BigTechDetective enabled). If you are looking for a search engine that doesn't depend on big tech, try SwissCows. Note that it occasionally loads a resource from Amazon (ads pointing there maybe?) and it locks. But I would say it does not *depend* on big tech.

Yes, it was very nice, very sunny :) This extension is pretty amazing, just to see how these companies have taken control of almost the entire web!

No worries, I appreciate how easy it is to think of communities as a single monolith instead of a sum of small rocks :) I realize too that I should have toned down my comment, it probably came across much more aggressively than I imagined. Sorry about that!
