Just as I thought that I cured my distro hopping, Mint 22 released 😅. I really like Mint because of how user friendly it is and how good of a non fuss experience it offers. I do share your worries about the team putting a lot of stuff on their plate, between their Ubuntu and their debian based distros, xfce, mate and cinnamon, the edge iso and now the new x apps I do hope that they're not overworking themselves. I think that given how hostile they are towards snaps, they should start transitioning to LMDE as their main distro, it would probably free them of some work. I'm looking forward to your Mint 22 review 🙂

I totally agree, they said Ubuntu did a bunch of things on top of Debian that they'd like to keep, but they didn't go into a lot of detail. I guess when the burden of de-ubuntufying the base exceeds the work needed to "ubuntufy" Debian, they'll switch :D
