Hmm, I guess it's a more ethical approach to internet ads, which is less bad, but not exactly "more good"? DuckDuckGo uses ads without tracking, and I don't mind that. And technically there's already some ad-like ickyness on the default Firefox new tab page, with recommendation links for news and such. If those new tab defaults become something Firefox manages themselves for income, but it's just as easy to turn off, and maybe the default search engine is asked up-front instead of defaulting to Google, maybe that'd break even? Also aren't they working on a new Rust-based rendering engine that might be faster? That's directly product-focused.
