A ban on a certain IT related product does not have to clash with the idea of free speech in my opinion. In a democracy, we should also be able to agree that a certain product is just a health hazard, more or less the same way we did with tobacco. I personally agree with this specific ban because I don't see any technology in tik-tok, so we decide to drop it and look for more interesting stuff. (by technology, I mean products that improve and simplify your life)

I totally understand your point of view, my issue with this is: they're not banning it because they think it's bad for people, they're banning it because it helps protesters organize. The motive behind the ban is what matters here, I think. if they had said "hey, TikTok is crap and has too much potential for mental health issues, and for misinformation, so we're banning it", I'd be fine with that. The fact they're banning it in just a part of the country that's basically rebelling is worrying though.

The totalitarian fascists in the U.S. are threatening to ban TikTok to force it to be sold to corporate oligarch monopolists who will enforce censorship and control over the messaging reaching the younger segments of the nation's. Sounds like Caledonia is a similar effort to manupulate the propaganda messaging the public is assaulted with.
