An example of why a book shouldn't be judged by its cover along with waiting to see how things unfold within ANY particular series is to see what happens with its character(s) and in this case, Akira Toriyama himself (the creator of Dragon Ball) purposely heard what fans had to say about them NOT wanting him to kill Vegeta off and guess what he did during the Namek Saga? HE KILLED VEGETA OFF, Lol ... My point here is I am not Akira Toriyama (nor am I any better than him) however if you think that I will "do Vegeta dirty" or any other character for that matter based on how TORIYAMA does them, then you are mistaken. Just bare that in mind, folks.
