One of my absolute favorite animated movies. I have ones I love more, mostly for sentimental reasons, but none of them are better movies than this one. So glad you enjoyed it!

This was released in November 2010, about 4 months after Despicable Me's summer release. The summer release of the latter allowed it to establish itself as the more successful of the two, leading to multiple sequels for DM. I far prefer Megamind and I think the story wrapped up too well for sequels anyway. David Cross, who plays Minion here, is a successful voice actor and comedian who often plays clueless characters. Interestingly his first big TV break was 25 years ago when he partnered with Bob Odenkirk to create a successful sketch show for HBO, "Mr. Show with Bob and David." It was that show that inspired Vince Gilligan to cast Odenkirk as Saul Goodman in season 2 of Breaking Bad. Around the same time, Cross was cast to play Tobias Funke, an incompetent Doctor turned very incompetent actor in Arrested Development (IMHO the funniest sit-com of all time). His character actually ends up in the MCU, appearing as a part of The Collector's alien zoo in Avengers Infinity War.
