Another great Tom Hanks & Steven Spielberg collaboration. It doesn't get as much attention as "Saving Private Ryan," but it's certainly praise-worthy. You might also enjoy "Bridge of Spies"; a cold-war legal drama they did together.

It's based on a story that a convicted con-man and pathological liar *said* was true. It's probably as true as "Fargo" (in that it's true that Earth exists and people live on Earth).

Eric

I mean, listen: it's a pretty good movie. I'm not trying to say you shouldn't enjoy it. Just... probably not true.

Allen Bond

Great reaction Mary!

Frank Abagnale, Jr was *arrested* and put in prison, so there are legal records. Try telling the FBI, the Department of Justice and the Courts where he was tried, found guilty and incarcerated, that it’s ‘all made up’. It happened.

When Hanratty leads Frank out of the printing press in Montrichard, there is a French-speaking policeman with gray hair who takes him from Hanratty. That is the real Frank Abagnale, Jr. Couldn't tell if you recognized Amy Adams from Arrival as Brenda.

I was looking to see if she recognized Frank John Hughes, the actor who played Agent Fox, who was Gaurnere on Band of Brothers. Great movie and great reaction. Love to see Mary in her true crime wheelhouse.

"You're not a Lutheran?" lmao I cracked up on that part. I've always had a crush on Amy Adams. Some reason Mary, watching along with you, makes the movie better somehow. That part where they're meeting with Frank's gold digging mom and that one guy trying to get the fork, I think that's what they call "Pope in the pool" where they have a conversation and they have some kind of a entertaining moment to not make the scene feel boring. A lot of different actress that are famous or more noticeable now, but where unknowns at the time. Including Jennifer Garner. Benifer the sequel lol. I request Romeo and Juliet 1996 reaction with Leonardo DiCaprio

I certainly believe the movie was exaggerated for dramatic effect, especially as it has some of Spielberg's thematic obsessions (bad, mediocre, or absentee dads). It has that Hollywood spit and polish. So I see both arguments on this one.

Eric

I mean, its accuracy - or lack thereof - doesn't impact its quality at all. Just saying, it's not accurate.
