I watched this one on HBO Max if you want to synchronize.

I cannot believe that I'm actually watching a show as it's coming out. Especially something so connected to Game of Thrones, which was a show everyone around me was always talking about and I never had any clue what it was like.
I loved this first episode. Let me know your thoughts!

Oh, goddammit! You mean I actually have to watch this show now? Ohhhh, alright, fine... Maaaarrriii, you Belgian b*tch...

Tony Williams

Really looking forward to seeing where they're going with this story line. Casting worked great also. Tough to try and follow up and live up to one of the best shows ever, so I am more than willing to give them some time to lay down the foundation.

I hope they tell the Targaryen's story right up to the point where Jaime Lannister stabs the Mad King in the back.

ChickensAreRacist

I bet they will (cuz I also hope they will). Hoping they do what Better Call Saul did to Breaking Bad did as well as what Mandalorian and such did to Star Wars.

Brian Jones

Glad to see you're watching this one so soon. I really enjoyed the first episode. Looks like we are getting back to the political intrigue and strong character development that made the show great in the first place. Let's hope they can keep it consistent throughout the entire run of the show this time.

Really liked the first episode, although obviously it will take a little while to gather momentum I think. The little reveal about the secret Targaryen's keep is I think, far more significant than we might first realise. He said the end of mankind will BEGIN with the cold winds rising in the north and what comes with them. Meaning surely, that the army of the dead marching south in season 8 of GOT was only just the beginning?!? He also said world of men can only be saved with a Targaryen sitting on the iron throne.....GOT certainly did not end with a Targaryen on the throne, so if the night king's march south was only first chapter in the long night, and there is much worse still to come, then that can only be stopped by Jon Snow being on the throne as the last Targaryen? Almost sounds as if they are setting the scene for a spin-off story about Jon Snow (which we know is already in the works).

It’s about the Dance of Dragons, not the entirety of the reign up to the Mad King.

Sonny Smith

It’s about the Dance of Dragons but there is going to have to be a time jump at some point.

Sonny Smith

Just have to get this out there; Daemon’s helm really bothers me being open -faced. Other than that, very strong first episode. They aged up the characters again by about a decade, but that’s expected I suppose. I think they’re going to have to do a few time jumps because this is about a decade prior to the dance beginning and that’s when things get spicy.

Tony Williams

Curious as to why you believe there has to be a time jump. Not saying you are wrong by any stretch, but I do wonder what makes you so sure about that. I'm thinking perhaps I am missing something and hoping you'll clue me in more than anything else. TIA.

Sonny Smith

I don’t think there is any spoilers in here, just a clarification of the timeline mostly. The Dance doesn’t start until 129, the show opened in the year 113(ish) The first episode sets up the very earliest of the conflict. It’s been a couple years since I read Fire and Blood but unless I’m mistaken the next major thing happens like 5 years from now and then it’s another 11 years before things get spicy. I doubt they’re banking on doing nearly 2 decades of seasons just to get to the Dance of Dragons. Granted Fire and Blood is more of a history book than a novel so it gives broad and sometimes conflicting accounts as to the events, but unless they’ve decided to wildly stray from the source material there is going to have to be at least one major time jump, possibly two.

Tony Williams

Really appreciate your response. The confusion here is all mine. I think I had read another comment wanting a time jump all the way up until the events in Game Of Thrones and somehow thought you were talking about a MAJOR time jump of 150 years or so, not the 20 years give or take you're actually referring to. Thanks for clarifying and letting me in on what you were talking about.

Can I watch this first and then Game of Thrones or is it like Better Call Saul where you watch Game of Thrones first? Maybe this will have a great ending like Game Of Thrones did. An ending you all loved 🤣

Jack the Narrator

"Cauterization" is a medical practice or technique of burning a part of a body to remove or close off a part of it. It destroys some tissue in an attempt to mitigate bleeding and damage, remove an undesired growth, or minimize other potential medical harm, such as infections when antibiotics are unavailable. Also, I totally agree with you about Daemon's ridiculous looking jousting helmet.
